Welcome

This is the 23 newsletter from Final Frontier Media and the 2nd of 2009. You can find the previous newsletters here. For the first time in 2 years I will radically change the newsletter format. This is because of several things. Firstly it's very hard for me to be motivated to create this newsletter. In my opinion there's little extra. I want to change this. Secondly it was needed. Last but not least after a few months of low activity I want to do something new, which encourage me to do more.

First I will tell you about the latest updates of Final Frontier Media. This will be divided into months for this newsletter. I keep it short this time, because I want to do more. Last year I introduced a new subject, which is called "Music videos of the month". Two music videos will be highlighted every month. In the Opinions section you can find opinions about music videos which are stated on YouTube, BBS/Forum or E-mail. The Subspace section will tell you something about other websites. You can read a in "The undiscovered Country something of what I'm going to do in the future with this website. A new part of the newsletter will be "Trexperience". I will talk about my experience with Star Trek on some level. Every newsletter will end with some writings from me about my website, or the newsletter or something completely different. At the bottom of the newsletter you can read how to contact me or how you unsubscribe from this newsletter. On the left side you can see a small table of contents. By clicking on them you can navigate through the newsletter.

Updates

This is the 23rd newsletter from Final Frontier Media and the second of 2009. Normally I write only a newsletter at the end of an even month, but after February I was busy with my work and also I didn't had motivation to work on the website. But finally it's here. Enjoy it.

The news is divided into several months, because it's a lot of news. I also keep the news short. It's all about you knowing what there's done and which music videos you can download where. In the future this system will stay the same, only more elaborate.

In the last four months a lot of music videos, categories, links, Star Trek 2009 wallpapers, images and trailers are added. A lot of sections were updated. Several small errors have been corrected and new functionality is added. Also the looks and working of the site is more uniform. Enough to talk about. Read on!

February #1

In February 13 new music videos have been added. Also the category Nephtys59 and PG15 were created. On 13 February I added a music video I created myself. It's called "Kind of wonderful". A music video about the woman of Star Trek and how wonderful they are. Several love music videos by Belanna and Casper were added. All of them about Janeway, Chakotay and/or Seven of Nine.

Of course several Star Trek Enterprise music videos have been added, which are created by Linsey. I've also changed the categories in the Music videos section. Because there weren't coming any new music videos from TLI in the short time, I've added them to the Other section. I just did the opposite with PG15. I all ready had two music videos of him and added more and created a own section.

In the music videos section several categories have more than 20 music videos. When this happens the category is split into two pages. After 40 music videos the category is split in three pages. The look of this is now made uniform to the rest of the website with blue, bold text. It's added at the top and bottom of the page and combined with the "back to top" function. This way it's more noticeable that a category has more pages and thus more music videos to offer.

February #2

I've added a Star Trek 2009 link category to the Link section. In the final days for the release of the new movie a lot of new sites popped up on the internet. Therefore I added those links, because I thought you people would appreciate it. Beside these links I've added new trailers, images and more in the Star Trek 2009 section.

The sub-sections Sitemap and Statistics are probably the most updated part of the website. Every month the statistics are updated with the latest download figures in the top 50, top 10 per month and top 10 this year. Also statistics from the past can be found here. The Sitemap is always updated when a new page is added or and old one is removed. The archive is also updated every month with old news, which was first available at the homepage. For all previous news, finding a page and statistics.

Several small errors have been corrected like changing the links in the archive section which were linking to a internal or external page which doesn't exist anymore.

March & April

I was still motivated to work on my website at the start of March. Especially when the third Star Trek trailer came out. That's the only "music video" which was added in these two months. But it was a great trailer and I badly wanted to see the new movie. Therefore I created several wallpapers which can be download in the StarTrek 2009 section.

In March it was also the end for the Rik Report download mirrors. The server is removed, and thus all links. Positive about this is that the statistics will be more accurate, because I didn't have statistics for the Rik Report server. Of course the sub-sections sitemap and statistics were updated.

The last section which didn't look like the other pages on Final Frontier Media, was the Archive. I've changed this and collected all old news from before 2006 in one page.  Because March is the first month of the year that news from January is going to be archived a new 2009 archive is added.

Final update was done in the pictures section. There was a StarTrek.nl Utrecht meeting and pictures taken by Ace of Spades were added. These are probably only interesting for StarTrek.nl members.

May #1

Motivation was totally gone, unfortunately. Playing games are a very important part for my decrease in motivation. Games like Transport Tycoon, FIFA 98, Red Alert 3 and Ultimate Soccer Manager 98/99. I'm never bored playing them, but they keep me from something important, this website.

Because I wanted a big updated just prior to the release of the new movie I've updated in May. I had a lot of new stuff from Star Trek 2009 collected in these two months. I've added everything in a big update for StarTrek 2009. Five new links, seven film clips, four TV-spots, 21 images, a theatrical poster and 3 premier photos. This would be "the final update".

In the link section these 5 new links and 1 top site website was added. I've deleted the federation top sites, because it doesn't exist anymore. Unfortunately a lot of sites aren't updated anymore. If you any new website, or you have your own, just let me know.

The working of the sub-section sitemap is changed. You can now also see in a instance if a page is updated. You all ready could see if a page was new.

T'Pol is a popular character in Enterprise Music Videos
(source: Woman of StarTrek)

May #2

Because I didn't do much in most part of March and al of April I wanted to add a lot of music videos. I've added a total of 20 music videos. I've never added this amount of music videos at once before. The total of music videos is now at 275. A lot of great voyager music videos can be found in the categories Mistyfur, Belanna and Other.

Several Star Trek Enterprise music videos, which are still very popular can be found in the categories Linsey, Other, PG15, Scifispace and Nephtys59. T'pol in combination with Jonathan Archer are the most used characters in Star Trek Enterprise Music videos.

After some time I've also find a new vidder which creates TOS Music videos. I only had Mary S. van Deusen, and some people in Other, beside myself. But only Mary was fully devoted and in Other and Final Frontier Media it were more one of a kind. This is now changed because of the new category McCoySpock Love. A lot of the music videos are Slash Music videos, but they're really good. You'll see more of this in the future.

Of course the statistics are also updated with the latest download figures from April. Because of this newsletter also the sitemap is updated. On the newsletter page you have now short links to the music videos of the month. It's all about the Star Trek Music Videos.

Music videos of the month

In this last year introduced part of the newsletter two music videos are chosen to be the Music videos of the month. One of the music videos deserve the recognition because of the statistics. This can be sudden popularity or just the opposite. The second music video will be one I choose because of my personal opinion of it.

Music video #1 - Those poor guys in red (Other)

This music video was the third video added after Final Frontier Media moved to it's current web-address. The music video was originally created by two VCR's, but it's digitally remastered in 1998. In 2002 this music video won in a Convention Music Video Contest. In the top 50 of most download music videos this music video is on the 44th place.
Music video #2 - Adiemus Trek (Pixelworks)

This is one of the first music video I had found on the internet. After the Sabatoj Music Videos I had soon contact with "Cool Kyle". We went partners and I mirror his music videos. Unfortunately his website isn't updated for a long time but his music video are still popular. In my opinion this one is the best he has created. I'll bet you agree with me.

 Your site here? Contact me

This time in the subspace bulletin is the website "Strekonline.com". This website exists since 2001 and was before known as Randy's Star Trek site. You can find a lot, and I mean a lot of screenshots of Star Trek and other great series and movies. All in great quality and you're free to use them. As long as you give credit to Strekonline.com. Beside screenshots you can find standard and widescreen wallpapers, music and relatively new some music videos. All together a must website for the media Star Trek fan and fans of those other series and movies. You can find the site here.

Future plans

Last time I talked about a new music video, well It's all ready done in February and available for download. At the moment I've a idea for a music video, but not really started. Next time more news about this subject.

The StarTrek 2009 has his final update and will be changed in a next update. The lay-out will be different and everything will be collected to simple overview. In the future the page will probably be moved to the archive. Because they're all ready busy with StarTrek XII a new section for that movie will be added in time.

Still working on changing the website, but I haven't done anything lately. Hope to do it this year a bit. Also I hope to add the Final Frontier Media award this year, but that's not entirely in my hands. When I know more, I'll let you know.

I'm still looking for people who do create music videos so I can add them to the collection. Also stories or comments about my website are welcome. If you write comments and you want that it will be in the next newsletter, make sure you write more than a few words. All ideas or comments can be send to me through the contact form, which you can find here. When you want to publish your music video you can do the same.

The Undiscovered Country

Trexperience it yourself!

Trexperience

In this new section of the newsletter I will gave my opinion about something I see or experience in Star Trek. As reader of this newsletter you can respond by sending me a message. In this will the experience will go on, from newsletter to newsletter.

Almost everyone has seen the latest Star Trek movie. It's the talk of the day. To be serious. I've had it for now. I've seen the movie three times in the Cinema including one IMAX cinema. I've talked about ins & outs on several forums or BBS and everyone has it's opinion ready. From bullshit to Heaven on earth.

But of course I have to stay on this topic, because it's new, it's hip and in my opinion great. Just the little stuff of the movie is great. Have you seen the Tribble? Have you seen R2D2? Eating an apple while Kobayashi Maru, The creature of Ceti Alpha 5, Giving the formula to Scotty. All those small things makes this movie worthwhile for the Star Trek fans. And beside that it's an good action movie. I've experienced this movies several times now. Every time I found something new, something sparkling and something bad. But I still experience it as Star Trek. How do you experience it?

The admin

Almost halfway 2009 and only a few updates have been done. As you did noticed by now I didn't had any motivation for working on the website until today. I've finished this newsletter and have several plans for future updates.

Beside seeing the newest movie several times, I'm again started with watching Deep Space Nine. It's my favourite Star Trek series and I'm going to watch it for the eleventh time!!!

Also I started watching something which is not Star Trek but from a lot of friends I hear it's awesome. I talk about The West Wing and just started watching it. It's funny, but it's not Star Trek.

At the moment I'm very busy with my work, starting early and end late. This means I'm most evenings tired when I come home, but I'll try to update more often. Stay tuned!

Greetings from Zwolle.
